Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration & Production Company Limited (BAPEX) was established in July 1989 as a state-owned oil and gas exploration company in Bangladesh. It was an incorporated part of Petrobangla. In order to speed up oil and gas exploration activities, BAPEX was come out as a distinct company and operating its function under Petrobangla of the Energy & Mineral Resources Division of Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources of Government of Bangladesh. The Company has discovered the following gas fields: Begumganj, Fenchuganj, Feni, Kamta, Saldanadi, Semutang, Shahbazpur, and Srikail gas fields. It is also conducting various activities related to its arena to discover new gas field in the Country.
